Bihar Special Task Force Detains Wanted Arms Suspect in Patna
In a coordinated sweep with the West Bengal police, the Bihar Special Task Force has taken into custody Pawan Kumar Singh, a resident of Ravaiya village in Jamui district, who was wanted in an arms‑related case registered at the Coke Oven police station in Asansol.
Origins of the Asansol Investigation
According to the Bihar Police headquarters, the matter was entered as case 159/2026 on 25 September 2026. Singh faces charges under multiple sections of the Arms Act, including Sections 25(1)(a), 25(1B)(a), 25(6) and 25(8).
After the FIR was lodged, investigators say the accused fled West Bengal, crossing into Bihar and moving between several hideouts to avoid detection.
Tracking to Athmalgola, Patna
Prompt intelligence from West Bengal police enabled the STF to narrow Singh’s location to the area surrounding Athmalgola police station in Patna district, using a blend of technical surveillance and local tip‑offs.
Raid and Capture on 3 October
Armed with the lead, an STF team stormed the identified residence on 3 October. Singh was taken into custody without incident and subsequently verified as the wanted individual.
The operation was officially disclosed in a press release issued by the STF on 5 October.
Transfer to West Bengal Authorities
Legal procedures for a transit remand to West Bengal have now been set in motion. Singh is expected to be presented before the court handling the Asansol case for further interrogation.
Police continue to investigate Singh’s alleged involvement in the arms violations recorded at the Coke Oven police station, keeping the case under active scrutiny.
