New Delhi. Early Monday, a wave of threatening emails claiming bombs were planted arrived in the inboxes of several schools across Delhi, prompting principals to activate emergency evacuation procedures and empty the premises.

Multiple institutions targeted

The alerts mentioned schools such as Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Lodhi Estate and Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Vasant Vihar, along with a handful of other establishments situated along the Lutyens’ Delhi stretch. Though the messages were sent at dawn, school administrators only became aware of them between 11 a.m. and noon.

Swift action by police and fire services

Upon verification, each school immediately notified the Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Services, setting their crisis‑response plans into motion. Pupils and teachers were guided out of the buildings while specialist units arrived on site.

Bomb experts and sniffer dogs deployed

Police teams equipped with bomb‑disposal specialists and canine units entered the campuses to conduct systematic sweeps. The fire department also responded; the Delhi Fire Services control room recorded a call regarding the Vasant Vihar school at about 12:30 p.m., dispatching a fire tender and personnel to assist with the evacuation.

Thorough anti‑sabotage searches were carried out throughout the facilities. As of the latest update, investigators have found no explosive devices or suspicious materials.

Parents kept informed

Sardar Patel Vidyalaya quickly notified parents that all children had been safely evacuated and that classes would only resume once officials gave clearance.

This episode echoes a similar wave of bomb‑threat emails that hit the same school and a few other Delhi institutions roughly two weeks earlier, during the exam period, which also prompted extensive security checks.

Law enforcement agencies continue to analyse the recent emails and trace their source, while schools across the capital remain on heightened vigilance.
