Intensive Three‑Day Campaign to Close Gaps in the Electoral Roll

From 7 October to 9 October, Jharkhand’s election machinery will run dedicated digitisation camps at polling stations throughout the state. The drive is a key component of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and offers a fresh opportunity for citizens who were previously omitted to enrol.

Focus on Adding New Voters

Chief Electoral Officer K. Ravi Kumar has tasked District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers and their assistants to ensure the three‑day operation runs without a hitch. Residents who are not yet listed can submit Form 6 at any of the camps. Staff will also fast‑track the digital entry of Forms 6, 7 and 8 received from Booth Level Officers – Form 6 for new entries, Form 7 for deletions, and Form 8 for corrections or updates.

Statewide Mega Help‑Desk on 10 October

After the digitisation sprint, every polling station will host a BLO‑BLA‑2 meeting‑cum‑mega help‑desk on 10 October. Voters can receive assistance on registration, lodge objections, verify notices issued during the revision, and resolve any other roll‑related queries. This marks the fourth statewide initiative aimed at demystifying the revision process and addressing voter concerns.

Ensuring No Eligible Voter Is Left Behind

CEO Kumar stressed that the election apparatus must ensure every eligible Indian citizen is captured in the roll. Officers have been instructed to intensify outreach in areas with vulnerable or under‑represented populations, providing additional support wherever it is needed.

Why Inaccuracies Occur in the Voter List

The chief electoral officer explained that mismatches can arise from enumeration errors, faulty mapping in earlier revisions, or legacy data issues. The current SIR exercise is not meant to rectify every historic mistake; its primary aim is to produce a clean, up‑to‑date roll for the forthcoming election.

Eligibility Criteria for Inclusion

Applicants must be Indian citizens, have turned 18 on or before 1 October 2026, and normally reside within the jurisdiction of the relevant polling station. Required documents will be verified at the time of registration.

Election officials have been directed to accelerate the processing and digitisation of Forms 6, 7 and 8 so that applicants receive prompt assistance and the roll reflects the latest data. The final roll from this SIR cycle is scheduled for publication on 19 October.
