Muzaffarpur, Bihar – On 15 October, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary officially opened the Mega Footwear and Accessories Park situated in the Mahwal Industrial Area of Motipur block, marking a major push toward industrial growth in the region.

Park footprint and ambition

Covering roughly 62 acres, the new complex is envisioned as a catalyst for reviving Bihar’s leather and footwear ecosystem. The plan includes five dedicated leather units, collectively expected to generate around 2,100 jobs for locals from Muzaffarpur and surrounding districts.

Turn‑key infrastructure

The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has equipped the park with ready‑made, G+2 plug‑and‑play sheds. These pre‑fitted facilities allow entrepreneurs to start production immediately, eliminating the time‑consuming and capital‑intensive process of constructing a plant from the ground up. The model is especially beneficial for SMEs looking for a fast market entry.

Common Facility Centre

A key attraction is the Common Facility Centre (CFC), stocked with machinery valued at about ₹8.5 crore. The shared equipment enables nascent manufacturers to access high‑end tools on a pay‑per‑use basis, aligning capital spend with actual production demand.

Inauguration ceremony

The ribbon‑cutting ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Union Ministers Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Rajbhushan Nishad, as well as Vaishali MP Veena Devi. The dignitaries toured the sheds and CFC, emphasizing the park’s potential to nurture entrepreneurship in the state.

Security measures

Given the high‑profile nature of the event, district officials imposed a five‑kilometre no‑fly zone around the venue and deployed extensive ground security to ensure a smooth and safe inauguration.

Economic outlook

The park is poised to become a game‑changer for Bihar’s leather and footwear industries by offering modern machinery and pre‑built infrastructure that lower entry barriers for small players. While the full impact will be measurable once the factories become operational, early signs point to a substantial boost in local employment and a stronger industrial base for Muzaffarpur.
