Vatican‑City Design Takes Form
In the coal‑rich belt of Rajrappa, the Shri Shri Durga Puja Committee is crafting a pandal that mirrors the grandeur of Italy’s Vatican City. Led by Pankaj Tent House of Ramgarh, a team of more than a dozen artisans is erecting a edifice that will soar to about 51 feet in height and span 70 feet in width. The organizers have allocated roughly ₹7.75 lakh to bring this iconic silhouette to life, promising visitors a glimpse of the famed Vatican architecture without leaving India.
Fair Attractions and Cultural Programme
Beyond the majestic pandal, the venue will thrum with a host of amusements. The plan includes close to ten distinct rides, among them a daring stunt called the “Well of Death.” Food courts, souvenir stalls and a dedicated cultural troupe will keep families and devotees entertained throughout the festivities. The Durga idol for this year’s puja is expected to stand six to seven feet tall, adding a divine focal point to the spectacle.
Enhanced Security Protocols
Anticipating a massive influx of visitors, the committee is bolstering safety with a network of around 60 CCTV cameras monitoring the pandal and its surroundings. Additional police personnel from the Rajrappa station will be on standby, ensuring order and rapid response to any eventualities.
Spiritual Setting
Rajrappa already enjoys a spiritual aura thanks to the renowned Maa Chhinnamastika Temple, which draws pilgrims from far‑flung corners during Navratri. This year’s blend of a Vatican‑themed pandal, vibrant fair, cultural performances and stringent security measures is poised to make the Durga Puja celebrations an unforgettable highlight for both worshippers and tourists alike.
