On Monday, attorneys practicing at Delhi’s Rohini Courts staged an unprecedented walk‑out, refusing to attend any scheduled matters. The Rohini Court Bar Association declared a full‑day boycott in response to an alleged assault on advocate Kamaldeep at the Mahendra Park police station.

Alleged Incident at Mahendra Park Police Station

According to the advocate, the episode occurred on 29 September when he was subjected to verbal harassment and physical aggression inside the Mahendra Park precinct. The bar’s executive committee immediately escalated the complaint to senior police officials, including the Joint Commissioner of Police and the DCP of the North‑West district, and also informed the Principal District and Sessions Judge.

Bar Accuses Police of Retracting Earlier Assurance

The association initially received a verbal commitment that the officers involved would face disciplinary measures. Instead, lawyers claim that a case was lodged against Kamaldeep, and that senior police officers concealed this development from the bar’s executive committee, violating the trust placed in the earlier pledge.

Police Barred from Entering Court Premises

As part of the protest, the bar has prohibited all police officers—irrespective of jurisdiction—from setting foot in the Rohini Court complex, including the Nayab Court, for the entire day of 5 October.

Call for Unity Among Lawyers

The association urged its members to remain united throughout the boycott, stressing that the dignity, safety, and professional independence of the legal community must not be compromised. Any attempts to intimidate the bar will be met with lawful resistance.

The standoff underscores a deepening rift between the Rohini Court Bar Association and police authorities over the handling of the September 29 episode. Further developments will be reported as the matter proceeds through the appropriate channels.
