Initial claim of an electrical injury

On 3 October, staff at BPS Khanpur Hospital informed local police that a woman identified as Ramashwari appeared to have suffered an electric shock at a house in Sector 15, Sonipat. Officers who arrived found the victim’s daughter Janvi, a man named Vishal, and several other relatives present.

Janvi repeatedly urged the investigators to forgo a full post‑mortem, insisting the only injury was a shock delivered through Ramashwari’s left hand. Vishal echoed her request, asking that any examination be limited to that hand alone.

After explaining that a comprehensive autopsy was mandatory, the family reluctantly agreed. Because the procedure could not be carried out immediately, the body was stored in a freezer pending the next‑day post‑mortem.

Post‑mortem results shatter the accident story

The medical examiner’s report contradicted the family’s version of events. Rather than signs of electrocution, the autopsy showed that Ramashwari died from suffocation, with clear pressure marks around her mouth and neck.

These findings prompted investigators to reclassify the case as a possible homicide and to revisit the circumstances surrounding the death.

Potential suspects, relationships and motive

Further probing revealed that Janvi and Vishal were in a romantic relationship and were co‑habiting with Ramashwari in a rented flat. Police suspect that the mother’s disapproval of the couple’s plans to marry may have created tension that escalated.

Vishal was taken into custody. During interrogation he provided a detailed account of the events on 3 October, which detectives are cross‑checking against forensic evidence and the autopsy findings.

Forensic analysis and the ongoing probe

A forensic team examined the flat where the death occurred. Collected items included a double‑bed sheet bearing what appeared to be blood‑stained marks and an electrical extension cord—both being scrutinised as possible attempts to stage an electrocution.

The case has been logged at the Sector 27 police station, with ASI Sanjeev appointed as the investigating officer. Authorities are now aligning the medical report with physical evidence from the scene and statements from those involved to reconstruct the precise sequence of events.

Investigators stress that the inquiry remains active and that all forensic material, recovered objects, and witness testimonies will be thoroughly examined before any final conclusions are drawn.
