Supreme Court Announces Online Recruitment for Junior Court Assistants

Candidates may file their online applications from 7 October 2026 through 28 October 2026, 11:55 pm. The official notice was issued on 30 September, and aspirants are advised to read the advertisement thoroughly before proceeding.
Exam Timeline
The objective‑type written examination is tentatively scheduled for 20 November 2026. The Supreme Court has warned that the schedule could be revised, so applicants should monitor updates on the court’s recruitment portal.
Selection will be multi‑phased. Candidates must clear an objective test, a computer‑typing assessment, a descriptive paper, and a personal interview.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized Indian university. Additionally, basic computer proficiency and a minimum English typing speed of 35 words per minute are compulsory.
The age limit is calculated as of 1 September 2026. Candidates should be at least 18 years old and not exceed 30 years on that date. Age relaxations apply to reserved categories in accordance with existing regulations.
Application Fee Details
General and OBC applicants are required to pay Rs 1,500, while candidates belonging to SC, ST, Ex‑Servicemen and PwBD categories enjoy a reduced fee of Rs 750. Payments must be made through the designated online gateway, and applicants should verify all personal, educational, and documentary information before final submission.
Four‑Stage Selection Process
- Stage 1: 100‑mark objective examination.
- Stage 2: 50‑mark computer‑typing test.
- Stage 3: 100‑mark descriptive written paper.
- Stage 4: Interview carrying 25 marks.
Candidates must meet the qualifying threshold in each stage to move forward.
Salary and Pay Scale
The Junior Court Assistant post falls under Group‑B, non‑gazetted service and is placed at Pay Level‑6 of the Central Pay Matrix. The initial basic pay is Rs 35,400, supplemented by applicable allowances.
