October’s Heat Still Holds Firm

Even though the calendar has turned to October, Haryana continues to wrestle with lingering summer warmth. Daytime highs remain a few degrees above the seasonal average, and the sun still radiates intensely over much of the region.

Data from the Agricultural Meteorology Department of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU) in Hisar indicate that the last four to five days have been dominated by dry westerly flows, pushing daytime temperatures to 3‑4 °C above normal and night‑time lows to 2‑3 °C higher than typical values.

Two Western Disturbances Expected Oct 7‑12

Weather analysts now foresee a shift as a pair of western disturbances move across the region between 7 and 12 October. These systems are expected to introduce cloud cover, thunderstorms, scattered showers and brisk winds to several districts.

First Disturbance – Impacts from Oct 7

The first system is projected to reach the foothills of the Himalayas on 7 October, with its outer bands influencing Haryana that night. Northern districts may experience thunderstorms, strong gusts and light rain from 7‑9 October, while portions of the south‑west could also receive intermittent showers.

The anticipated rainfall should shave a few degrees off the thermometer, offering a brief respite from the prevailing heat.

Second Disturbance – Arrival Around Oct 9

A second western disturbance is slated to become active near 9 October. Its effects are expected to linger from 10‑12 October, bringing partly cloudy skies, renewed wind bursts and additional rainfall across various locations.

The added moisture and wind are likely to moderate the daytime highs that have dominated the past week.

Post‑Rain Cool Breeze

Once the twin disturbances move out, north‑westerly breezes will sweep the area, driving down both daytime and nighttime temperatures. Residents can look forward to a perceptible decline in heat and humidity as cooler air settles in.
