Body Discovered in Neemka Village
In the pre‑dawn hours of Monday, Yogendra—known locally as “Lucky”—went to his father Bhole Shankar’s field with a cup of tea. Instead of finding his father at work, he was met with the grim sight of the farmer’s lifeless form sprawled on the earth. Yogendra immediately called the police.
Responding officers secured the scene and handed it over to forensic specialists, who began cataloguing evidence. The incident was promptly classified as a homicide, with investigators zeroing in on the bitter land‑ownership quarrel that has simmered between the brothers for years.
Surveillance Footage Points to a Suspect
Three investigative teams were mobilised to examine the killing. Their review of CCTV recordings from cameras positioned around the plot revealed a figure entering the field moments before the fatal blow. The individual bore a close resemblance to Devendra, the victim’s younger brother.
Devendra was summoned for questioning, and his statements were cross‑checked against the video and forensic data. The convergence of this evidence led police to detain him later that night on suspicion of involvement.
“The CCTV footage, combined with forensic findings, strongly suggests the younger brother’s involvement,” said Inspector Rajesh Kumar.
Recovered Weapon
Investigators also recovered a spade from the site, which is believed to be the instrument used in the assault. This tool now serves as a pivotal piece of evidence as the case moves through the courts.
The police continue to reconstruct the chain of events that culminated in the farmer’s death. Devendra will appear before a magistrate, and the inquiry remains open to uncover any further motives or accomplices.
