Ramnagar, Uttarakhand – On Monday, Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat conducted a thorough inspection of the Ramnagar Tehsil office to gauge the progress of revenue work, pending court matters and public grievances. He urged officials to adhere to stipulated timelines and accelerate routine procedures.

Zero Tolerance for Unexplained Court Delays

While scanning the docket of cases awaiting court rulings, the Commissioner emphasized that no matter should linger without a legitimate cause. He instructed the staff to organise regular hearings and to dispose of each case promptly, in line with existing rules, thereby eliminating needless holdups.

Fast‑Track Land‑Use Applications (Section 143)

Regarding applications filed under Section 143 for land‑use conversion, the Commissioner mandated a ten‑day turnaround for all pending files, insisting on strict compliance with procedural guidelines and full transparency.

Mutation Files: A Day‑35 Bottleneck

The official expressed dissatisfaction after discovering that a large proportion of mutation dossiers were being rejected on the 35th day of filing. He ordered an immediate explanation from the Tehsildar and reiterated that mutation matters must be examined and resolved within the prescribed period.

‘Khurra’ Cases Stuck for Over Two Years

Long‑standing ‘Khurra’ disputes, some lingering for more than two years, were also highlighted. The Commissioner directed the relevant Patwaris to furnish detailed explanations for these delays.

Monitoring and Public Convenience

To ensure continuous oversight, the Commissioner tasked the Sub‑Divisional Magistrate (SDM) with regular monitoring of all pending tehsil‑level cases. He stressed that citizens should not be compelled to make repeated trips to government offices for revenue issues and called for a streamlined workflow that guarantees timely, quality resolutions.

Advocates’ Request and Immediate Action

During the visit, a group of lawyers approached the Commissioner, requesting the appointment of an Ahlmad at the tehsil office. He assured them that the posting would be prioritised and appealed to the legal community to help raise awareness about mutation procedures among the public.

The meeting was attended by Sub‑Divisional Magistrate Gopal Singh Chauhan, Tehsildar Manisha Makrana, and other senior officials of the Ramnagar Tehsil.
