Jaipur: A new wave of unsettled weather is set to sweep across Rajasthan in the middle of October. Meteorologists caution that between 14 and 16 October, a series of thunderstorms, intense downpours and scattered hail showers will affect several districts as a western disturbance brushes the Bikaner, Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions.

Showers Expected Across Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Bikaner

The outlook predicts solid rain bands accompanied by brisk winds for Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh on the 14th and 15th. The Bikaner‑Phalodi stretch may also experience intermittent thunderstorms, with isolated hail possible in a few pockets—an occurrence that could jeopardise both standing crops and those freshly harvested.

Jaipur and Bharatpur Divisions Remain Vulnerable

Weather activity will linger over the Jaipur and Bharatpur divisions through the 16th. Rural sections of Jaipur could see hail on the 15th, while Dausa and surrounding areas are likely to receive heavier rainfall. Further west, districts such as Churu, Nagaur and their neighbours should brace for sudden gusts and lightning strikes.

Cultivators Fear Crop Losses

The prospect of rain and hail has raised concerns among farmers and market dealers. In the Bikaner division and the Shekhawati region, many fields have already been harvested, yet several crops are nearing maturity and remain exposed. Open‑air grain stacks and market yards risk moisture intrusion, which could degrade quality and cut farmer incomes.

Safety Tips for Farmers and Traders

Authorities urge growers and merchants to act quickly: cover outdoor crops and harvested grain with tarpaulins, relocate them to sheltered spots where feasible, and ensure proper field drainage to prevent water‑logging during the showers.

Post‑16 October Weather Outlook

Forecast models suggest a transition to drier conditions in western Rajasthan after 16 October, while the eastern parts of the state should begin to improve from the 17th onward. Until then, residents, cultivators and traders are advised to stay tuned to local alerts and remain prepared for gusty winds, lightning, rain and possible hail.
