Arrest Close to the Line of Control
Security units operating in the Lam sector of Nowshera, Rajouri, stopped a 17‑year‑old girl as she approached the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC). She was immediately taken into custody for an initial debrief before being handed over to local police authorities.
Police Take Over the Probe
After the army concluded its first round of questioning, the teenager, identified as Samiya Azeem, daughter of Mohammad Azeem from Khuiretta in Pakistan‑occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK), was transferred to the Nowshera Police. Investigators are now reconstructing the path that led her to the Indian side of the LoC.
In her preliminary statement, Samiya claimed the crossing was accidental. Security agencies are cross‑checking this claim and scrutinising the circumstances surrounding her movement.
Authorities Examine Every Angle
Both the army and police are conducting a thorough review. They are confirming her identity, mapping the exact route taken, and determining whether the border breach was truly inadvertent or driven by another motive.
Given the strategic sensitivity of the region, officials are proceeding with heightened vigilance, awaiting further evidence from ongoing interrogations and verification processes.
Minor Status Shapes the Investigation
Since Samiya is only 17, the inquiry will adhere to legal procedures applicable to minors. The primary aim is to establish the facts of her presence near the LoC, with no official motive disclosed at this stage.
Updates will follow as the investigation develops and authorities decide on any subsequent actions.
