In the otherwise tranquil Raipur neighbourhood of Dehradun, a night of violence claimed three lives. An 80‑year‑old patriarch, Ramesh Kapoor, his 75‑year‑old wife, Rajni Kapoor, and their 48‑year‑old domestic aide, Tiliya Devi – locally called Sheila – were discovered dead following an altercation with a plumber that escalated beyond control.

Police Account: A Simple Payment Issue Spiralled Into Murder

Investigators say the suspect, identified as Rajkumar, was summoned to the Kapoor residence for routine plumbing repairs. After completing the work, a disagreement over the final amount allegedly sparked a violent confrontation. The senior couple was assaulted, and Sheila, who heard the disturbance while attending a nearby house, rushed in to help and was likewise attacked.

All three victims were rushed to Coronation Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Neighbourhood Vigilantes Detain the Accused

Attempting to flee the scene, Rajkumar was intercepted by alert residents who handed him over to the police. Authorities confirmed his origins in Bijnor and his residence in Indresh Nagar, Dehradun. Frequent visits to the Kapoor home meant he was familiar with the family’s daily routine.

Rajkumar is now in police custody as detectives reconstruct how a payment dispute turned fatal.
