Childhood Companion and Spouse Nabbed in Killing of Ex Deputy Block Chief in Kashipur

Kashipur – Local police have taken into custody Sandeep Singh, also known as Sona, who grew up with former Deputy Block Chief Hardeep Singh, along with his wife Sandeep Kaur. Investigators say the homicide stemmed from a protracted financial disagreement estimated at around ₹30 lakh.

Complaint and Preliminary Probe

On September 13, Rajvinder Kaur of Gulzarpur filed a report alleging that her son, Hardeep Singh, had been shot. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati disclosed that early inquiries uncovered a monetary clash, prompting officers to focus on Sandeep Singh as a prime suspect.

Events of the Fatal Night

According to the police narrative, Hardeep and Sandeep met for dinner and drinks at a roadside dhaba. Later, they proceeded to Sandeep’s residence where they reportedly consumed illicit liquor. A heated argument over the pending debt erupted, and Sandeep allegedly seized Hardeep’s licensed pistol that lay on a table, discharging seven rounds. Two bullets struck Hardeep in the abdomen, and he later died despite medical intervention.

Financial Background

Investigators claim Sandeep owed Hardeep roughly ₹30 lakh. In addition, Hardeep had recently bought a second‑hand bulldozer valued at about ₹8 lakh in Sandeep’s name. Sandeep, a farmer who cultivates approximately 15 acres, and Hardeep had been friends since childhood.

Aftermath and Evidence Tampering

Police allege that after the shooting, Sandeep transported the wounded Hardeep to a hospital and informed his family, apparently in an attempt to mislead investigators. Meanwhile, Sandeep’s wife, Sandeep Kaur, is accused of cleaning the crime scene and destroying blood‑stained evidence, leading to her arrest. Authorities are also probing the involvement of Sandeep’s mother, who is said to have been present during the incident.

Seizures and Arrests

The investigation team recovered the licensed firearm, spent cartridges, and the vehicle used on the night of the murder. The operation involved Kotwali Kunda SHO Dhirendra Kumar, Sub‑Inspectors Saurabh Kumar, Govind Mehta, Manoj Dev, Sonu Singh, Naveen Joshi, and Assistant Sub‑Inspector Ravish Ram.
