Dehradun. The Uttarakhand Innovation and Solutions Hackathon‑2026 was officially launched on Tuesday at Graphic Era University, targeting the creation of technology‑based answers to the region’s unique geographical and social hurdles. The ceremony was led by Pradeep Batra, Uttarakhand’s Minister for Information Technology, Science & Technology, and Biotechnology, and attracted roughly 500 participants including students, scholars, teachers, technical experts, and budding innovators.
Spanning ninety days, the programme seeks to translate youthful technical talent and fresh perspectives into real‑world solutions for the state. Key focus areas encompass disaster management, traffic and crowd control, accessible healthcare, environmental stewardship, wildlife preservation, tourism development, and transparent governance.
Participants will also develop AI‑driven tools, data‑analytics platforms, GIS applications, and drone‑based monitoring systems to enhance public services. Core themes feature AI‑powered government knowledge bases, robust data governance, AI‑enabled GIS mapping, environmental impact analytics, AI‑assisted preparation of DPRs and RFPs, and aerial surveillance via drones.
Minister Pradeep Batra emphasized that Uttarakhand’s youth and academic institutions possess the creativity needed to devise innovative remedies for the state’s distinct challenges. He encouraged young minds to leverage technology and innovation to address the genuine problems faced by citizens.
The hackathon will kick off with problem‑identification and ideation phases, progress to prototype development, receive mentorship from industry veterans, and culminate in rigorous evaluation. Winning concepts will be nurtured through pilot projects, incubation support, and connections with industry partners.
Specific objectives include forecasting traffic loads during peak tourist and pilgrim seasons, monitoring environmental stressors, pinpointing disaster‑prone zones, and bolstering emergency response capabilities. Solutions to improve government service delivery in remote mountainous locales will also be explored.
Organisers stress a citizen‑centric, responsible‑innovation approach. The event is orchestrated by the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) in partnership with Axolotl Emprise LLP and a network of institutional and ecosystem collaborators. Its overarching goal is to foster locally‑crafted technological answers by strengthening ties among educational bodies, government departments, the tech community, and young innovators.
