Details of the FIR
At the Bhargama police station in Araria district, a 22‑year‑old woman originally from Banka submitted a formal complaint against Mohammad Rabban, who lives in Ward 7 of Dhaneshwari panchayat. She claims Rabban deliberately concealed his true identity and repeatedly extracted cash from her throughout a six‑year romantic involvement.
How the Couple Met
The complainant explains that she grew up with her family in Delhi’s bustling Sabzi Mandi market. It was there she met Rabban, who introduced himself as “Sonu.” According to her account, the two maintained a close relationship for almost six years.
Marriage Proposal Triggers a Dispute
When the woman asked Rabban to marry her, he allegedly asked her to come to his native village. Accompanied by her mother and brother, she traveled to Dhaneshwari panchayat, only to discover that a clash between the two families erupted, halting any wedding arrangements.
Allegations of Financial Exploitation
She further alleges that Rabban took money from her on several occasions during their relationship. After the marriage plan collapsed, she approached the police to retrieve the amounts she claims were stolen and to file a fraud complaint.
Attempts at Community Mediation
Local community members tried to intervene and negotiate a settlement, but the discussions broke down. Consequently, the woman lodged a written application with the Bhargama police outlining her grievances.
Police Response
Bhargama Station House Officer Rajesh Kumar confirmed receipt of the FIR and said the case is currently under review. He noted that, so far, no concrete proof of monetary fraud has been produced. The police will examine the allegations against the available evidence before deciding on further legal steps.
