Firozpur. Anticipating a steep rise in passenger traffic during the festive period, Northern Railway has launched a dedicated special train connecting Firozpur Cantt with Purnia, aimed at offering extra seats for travelers heading to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
The special service, numbered 04634/04633 Firozpur Cantt‑Purnia‑Firozpur Cantt Special, will operate eight trips in each direction. Departures from Firozpur are scheduled every Thursday between 8 October and 26 November, while the return runs every Saturday from 10 October to 28 November.
Timetable for departures and arrivals
According to railway officials, train 04634 will leave Firozpur Cantt at 5:30 pm and reach Purnia around 3 am after an approximate 33‑hour‑30‑minute journey.
On the way back, train 04633 is slated to depart Purnia at 6 am and arrive at Firozpur Cantt at about 4:35 pm the following day, covering the distance in roughly 34‑hour‑35‑minutes.
Key stations across Punjab, Haryana, UP and Bihar
The special train will halt at a host of important stations, providing a seamless link between the north‑west and the east‑central heartland of India.
Its scheduled stops include Makhu, Lohian Khas, Nakodar, Phillaur, Dhandari Kalan, Chandigarh, Ambala Cantt, Yamunanagar‑Jagadhri, Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Shahjahanpur, Sitapur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Chhapra, Sonpur, Hajipur, Shahpur Patori, Barauni, Begusarai, Khagaria, Mansi, Naugachia and Katihar.
This route ensures that passengers traveling between Punjab and a wide array of destinations in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar have a reliable option during the peak festival rush.
Composition of the train
The rake will consist of 16 coaches: five AC 3‑tier coaches, six sleeper class coaches and five general‑class coaches.
Railway authorities have introduced the service to alleviate congestion on regular trains and to give holiday‑bound travelers an additional, comfortable alternative.
With Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath approaching, demand on the Punjab‑to‑eastern‑UP/Bihar corridor is expected to stay high. This special train is poised to serve the needs of passengers planning journeys during this bustling period.
