New Central Allocation Lands in Himachal’s Agriculture
The Union government has unlocked a fresh tranche of ₹64.82 crore to reinforce agricultural initiatives across Himachal Pradesh. The funds are earmarked for two flagship programmes designed to modernise the state’s farming ecosystem.
Allocation Details
Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), the centre has set aside ₹28.31 crore. An additional ₹36.51 crore will flow through the Krishi Unnati Yojana. Together, these two components complete the total package of ₹64.82 crore.
Political Leaders Applaud the Support
Hamirpur MP and former Union minister Anurag Singh Thakur thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for the continued financial backing. Thakur noted that the fresh infusion will solidify ongoing infrastructure works and spark new projects aimed at strengthening Himachal’s farm sector.
Planned Utilisation of Funds
The money is slated for a broad spectrum of activities—from seed distribution and irrigation upgrades to capacity‑building workshops for cultivators. By reinforcing both RKVY and Krishi Unnati Yojana, the state can accelerate scheduled interventions and keep momentum on existing schemes.
Wider Significance
This release forms part of a larger central drive to ensure timely funding for agriculture‑centric programmes across states. Himachal Pradesh’s latest tranche underscores the collaborative effort between the centre and the state to keep vital farm initiatives financially sustainable.
