Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Jal Srishti Park in Miyanwala on Friday. The Mussoorie‑Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) executed the project at an estimated outlay of ₹8.64 crore, positioning it as a flagship step toward a cleaner, healthier and greener Dehradun.
Revitalising an Age‑Old Pond
The centerpiece of the park is the restoration of a historic pond that once lay neglected. Around the water body, new amenities have been added, including a picturesque island and pedal‑boat facilities for public enjoyment.
"Conserving water bodies is not just an ecological duty; it safeguards our natural heritage for generations to come," the Chief Minister remarked.
He stressed that development must go beyond concrete structures, urging a balance between urban growth and environmental stewardship.
Infrastructure Boost in Raipur Area
Alongside the park, the government is accelerating projects in education, health, roads, drinking water, sewerage, and flood‑control across the Raipur region. Ongoing works include sewer‑system upgrades, road widening, new tube wells, overhead tanks, and replacement of ageing pipelines.
Additional flood‑mitigation and channelisation efforts are underway on local rivers and seasonal drains to curb water‑logging.
Song Dam Project Strengthening Future Water Supply
With Dehradun’s population on the rise, the demand for potable water is increasing. The Song Dam initiative is progressing to bolster the city’s long‑term drinking‑water infrastructure.
The administration reaffirmed its commitment to delivering better roads, reliable water, flood protection and accessible green spaces for every resident.
Park Facilities: From Jogging Tracks to Kids’ Play Areas
According to MDDA, Jal Srishti Park boasts a jogging track, yoga deck, children’s park, educational flower garden, landscaped lawns, ample seating and more. By blending modern urban facilities with the restored pond, the park serves multiple recreational purposes.
Chief Minister Dhami appealed to citizens to keep the park tidy and well‑maintained, noting that while the government can create infrastructure, its upkeep is a shared community responsibility. He encouraged youngsters to utilise the space for sports, yoga and other activities while respecting the water body and surrounding greenery.
Preserving Dehradun’s Natural Identity
Dehradun is celebrated for its verdant scenery and natural charm. The Chief Minister affirmed that safeguarding this identity while expanding contemporary amenities remains a top priority.
The inauguration was attended by MLA Umesh Sharma Kau, Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, MDDA Vice‑Chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, other officials and a large gathering of local residents.
