Indore Entrepreneur Killed After Car Hits Temporary Metro Barrier
Late on Sunday night, a 44‑year‑old Indore businessman died when his car collided with a provisional divider erected for ongoing metro works. The victim, Kamal Vagela, was driving home along Mahavir Krishna Avenue when the accident occurred.
Police reports indicate that Kamal was accompanied by several friends who alighted at various points along the route. After they had departed, he continued alone toward his residence. Shortly thereafter, his vehicle struck the construction barrier positioned near his house. Bystanders who witnessed the crash called emergency services, and Kamal was rushed to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries despite intensive care.
Kamal, son of Durgashankar Vagela, operated a hair‑cosmetics business and leaves behind a grieving wife, two daughters and a son.
Family Demands Review of Safety Measures at Metro Site
Following the tragedy, Kamal’s relatives have publicly questioned the adequacy of safety precautions around the metro construction zone. They assert that the temporary divider was installed without clear signage or alerts for motorists, creating a blind spot that may have led to the fatal collision.
"There were no warning boards or lights to indicate the presence of the barrier. The authorities must investigate how such an oversight could happen," a family spokesperson said.
The family is pressing for a comprehensive explanation of the site’s safety protocols and urging officials to re‑evaluate traffic management in the vicinity.
Police Probe Includes CCTV Review and Site Inspection
Law enforcement has launched an inquiry to reconstruct the sequence of events that led to the crash. Officers are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras to ascertain how the vehicle approached the divider and whether any additional factors contributed to the incident.
Investigators are also assessing the condition of the road surface and the overall layout of the construction area. A detailed report will be released once all video evidence and on‑site examinations have been completed.
