Kidnapping Scheme Unfolds at Galleria Market

On 21 September, a casual stop at Galleria Market turned into a life‑threatening episode for 23‑year‑old Sahil Arora. After parking his car and stepping into a coffee shop, he returned to discover three unknown men already seated inside, one brandishing a handgun and ordering Sahil to drive them away.

Victim’s Quick Reflexes Thwart the Plot

When the pistol mis‑fired, Sahil seized the chance, gunned the accelerator and forced the front‑seat gunman to abandon the vehicle. The two rear passengers leapt out as the car lurched forward, melting into the surrounding traffic.

A few seconds later a scooter forced Sahil to a stop. The remaining gunman fled, leaving the firearm behind. Investigators later retrieved the weapon from the car as part of their evidence‑gathering.

Police Response and Arrests

Sahil reported the incident the following day at the Sector‑29 police station. The Crime Branch, Sector‑43, launched an immediate investigation and identified five suspects:

  • Praveen – resident of Sector‑67, Gurugram
  • Sumer Singh – Lakshman Vihar, Gurugram
  • Shiv Shankar – Vaidharm Colony, Faridabad
  • Aman – Meethapur, Delhi
  • Hemant – Meethapur, Delhi

All five individuals were taken into custody while detectives reconstructed each man’s alleged role in the kidnapping plan.

Commission Grievance as the Motive

According to ACP Naveen Sharma, the whole episode stemmed from a property‑commission dispute. Praveen had assisted Sahil’s father in closing a deal, only to watch another party finalize the transaction, leaving Praveen without his expected commission.

Police contend that this financial slight drove Praveen to collude with Sumer Singh, hoping to pressure Sahil’s father into paying the overdue sum and to abort the subsequent sale.

GPS Tracking and Pre‑Planned Execution

Investigators uncovered that Praveen had earlier installed a GPS tracker on Sahil’s vehicle, allowing the conspirators to monitor his movements in real time. The pair reportedly travelled from Nuh carrying the weapon, recruiting Shiv Shankar, Aman and Hemant to carry out the abduction.

The ultimate aim was to use the kidnapping threat as leverage, forcing Sahil’s father to settle the commission claim.

The detained suspects are slated to be presented before a court in the coming days. Ongoing interrogations will probe the depth of the conspiracy, trace the origin of the firearm, and clarify each accused’s involvement.
