New Delhi – Police in the bustling Sadar Bazar locality have taken a 56‑year‑old man into custody after a Class 6 pupil allegedly suffered a sexual assault inside a local shop.
The child had stepped out to buy school supplies when the suspect, identified as Maqsood, is said to have confined her within the premises, bound her hands and feet, and then committed the assault.
Following the victim’s statement, investigators lodged a complaint at the women’s police station, charging the accused under sections pertaining to rape, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and unlawful confinement.
Maqsood was arrested on Friday, and detectives are now gathering forensic evidence and interviewing witnesses to build a solid case.
