Narkatiaganj: A 35‑year‑old married woman was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances in a rented flat at Prakashnagar, Ward 11, sparking alarm among local residents.
Background of the deceased
The victim, identified as Gudiya Patel, had been living apart from her husband for almost eight years; her spouse is said to reside in Nepal. In search of a stable roof, she moved into a rented accommodation in Prakashnagar.
Allegations from the family
According to relatives, Ashish Jaiswal, also known as Siku and a resident of Ward 1, had been a regular visitor to Gudiya’s home for the past three‑to‑four years. Both her mother, Anjani Devi, and sister, Varsha Devi, allege that Jaiswal strangled Gudiya, pointing to bruises around her neck as evidence.
Triggering dispute
The family claims that an argument erupted between Gudiya and Jaiswal roughly four days before her death. Gudiya reportedly confided the altercation to her maternal relatives, warning them of possible danger.
Details of the night
On the evening of the incident, Gudiya’s nine‑year‑old son was staying with his maternal grandmother, leaving his mother alone at the rented house. Her lifeless body was found later that night.
"We have arrived at the scene following a tip‑off and are examining every angle of the case," said SDPO IPS Prasanna Kumar MV. "Further action will depend on the post‑mortem report and any evidence uncovered during the investigation."
The police have opened a full‑scale investigation, collecting forensic evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine the exact cause of death.
