Dehradun – A fresh skill‑development drive has been rolled out to ready Uttarakhand’s young workforce for the fast‑changing demands of modern industry. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Department of Skill Development & Employment signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the M3M Foundation, aiming to bridge the gap between training and both salaried and self‑employment opportunities.
At a ceremony in Dehradun, the MoU was signed by Sanjay Kumar, Director (Training) representing the department, and Dr. Aishwarya Mahajan, Managing Trustee and President of the M3M Foundation.
First‑Phase Training Centres Across Four Cities
The inaugural phase will set up state‑of‑the‑art centres in Dehradun, Haldwani, Kashipur and Pithoragarh. Depending on local demand, infrastructure and beneficiary readiness, the scheme may later expand to include Almora and Barkot.
Each hub will offer at least two industry‑relevant courses, curated to match the employment landscape of its region. Beyond technical instruction, the programme will link trainees with companies, provide placement assistance, and nurture sustainable livelihoods after graduation.
Modern Technical Trades on the Curriculum
Training modules will focus on high‑growth trades such as Electric Vehicles (EV), Auto Electrical Maintenance, Automobile Repair & Maintenance, Internet of Things (IoT) and Plumbing. Course selection will be driven by local job opportunities and the specific needs of regional manufacturers.
The initiative also seeks to tighten coordination between training institutes and industry players, thereby amplifying placement rates for graduates.
Employment‑Centric Approach
Dr. Payal Kanodia, Chairperson and Trustee of the M3M Foundation, emphasized that the partnership goes beyond classroom instruction. “We are aligning skill development with real‑world industry requirements and ensuring that every trainee has a clear pathway to employment or entrepreneurship,” she said.
Through close collaboration between the department and the foundation, the programme will monitor post‑training outcomes, guaranteeing that quality instruction translates into tangible job offers.
Key officials attending the launch included Deputy Director (Employment) Chandrakanta, Deputy Director (Training) Niranjan Khugshal, Principal Dinkar Rautela, UKSDM Nodal Officer Vinita Badoni, and M3M representative Arvind Kumar Sharma.
